OneCare doesn't show enough Care E-mail

Microsoft has been working hard to market its OneCare AV (or what ever its called) product of recent times... but even they had to admit that things haven't been travelling well for them.

Recent tests on anti-virus packages have consistently shown OneCare AV to be inferior to its competition when it comes to dedtecting viruses, trojans and adware.  Now ok, it does take time to bed down a new product and afterall, OneCare AV is a new product... or is it?  Now I don't know for sure what the origins of OneCare AV are ... it has been floating arround in either beta or final release of over a year now ... though thats not long in the AV industry... but... where did it originatefrom... well about 3 or 4 years ago, there was a really great AV product on the market called "RAVAntivirus".  Significantly, they hadeasily the best Linux email implmentation and were really ahead of their time.  They consistently won awards.  Then Microsoft bought them out... supposedly to use the technology in their own up coming AV product.  So the question is... is this RAV repackaged... or something else.  Surely Microsoft haven't managed to take a really good product and stuff it up have they (no don't answer that!).

Well, fortunately for those of us who aren't reliant on Microsoft Windows for our security perimeters there are a number of excellent AV products today that run really well on linux ... not to mention ClamAV the open source option as well... so the success or otherwise of OneCare AV is of little interest to us... I do however hope that for the sake of all those organisations who are stuck with Microsoft OneCare AV, that Redmond gets its act together on this software soon... its going to get embaressing for them otherwise... just my 2c worth :)
